SUMMER LEARNING COLLEGE TUTOR

• Reports To: School site administrator

• Salary Range: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour

• Terms of Employment: Temporary - July 11 - 28, 2022 (3 weeks)

• One year of full-time college; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified

• Experience working with students

• We may consider other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to effectively tutor students.

Provide academic tutoring services to individual students and groups of students. Create and implement tutorial strategies that guide and assist students in learning critical academic information and concepts.

1. Primary role is helping students become more confident and successful self-directed learners

2. Tutor students individually or in scheduled group study sessions to review principles, solve problems, and provide an intentional focus in areas of growth and improvement.

3. Provide subject-specific content to help students progress academically

4. Utilize listening and questioning strategies as the primary tutoring method to diagnose student needs and monitor progress

5. Utilize feedback and reflection to improve practice

6. Be direct and kind with students at the same time

7. Provide direct assistance in the use of equipment, learning objects, and materials needed for student success

8. Adheres to all of Warren County Schools Board Policies

9. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Warren County Schools has seven schools: 

• 3 elementary schools, including a Google School, a Spanish immersion program, and a Leader in Me school

• 1 Leader in Me middle school

• 3 high schools, including an early college high school and a new tech school,. We also offer special programs for college prep; engineering and construction; medical science and health care; and business, marketing, and entrepreneurship.

We are located in Warren County in north central North Carolina, on the Virginia border. Conveniently situated between Interstates 85 and 95, we're a popular destination for tourists visiting our two beautiful lakes, Lake Gaston and Kerr Lake.

Within an hour drive, you can be in the capital city of Raleigh or Research Triangle Park, one of the most prominent high-tech research and science parks in North America.
