Welcome to Warren County Schools Pre-K!

We provide programs and services for children (ages 3-5) and their families. Our programs are designed to ensure that students are more prepared for kindergarten and succeed academically and in life. We have pre-K programs at all three elementary schools. You must be a resident of Warren County to apply. Transportation is provided to all Pre-K students in their school zone.

Beginning Teacher of the Year-Pre-K

Beginning Teacher of the Year-Ms. Jones

NC Pre-K Child Eligibility Applications will be taken from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM by school zone on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, March 19, 2025-Vaughan Elementary

  • Thursday, March 20, 2025-Northside Elementary

  • Friday, March 21, 2025-Mariam Boyd Elementary

After these dates, please call 252-257-3185.

Parents and guardians should attend this event. Please bring the required documents:

  • Child's Birth Certificate

  • Court documentation of legal guardianship/custodian/foster care.

  • Income (complete income documentation)

    • Provide 4 consecutive paycheck stubs

    • Parents, stepparents, legal guardians, legal custodians, and any income from the child

    • Military Leave and Earning Statements

    • For no income, a statement of no income or no documentation of income will be provided

  • Parent's driver's license or ID

  • Proof of Residency

    • (NC Vehicle Registration Card, NC Voter Precinct Card, Military Orders or military documents, utility bill or cable bill, housing lease, contract, mortgage statement, property or income tax statement)

  • Developmental screening results

  • Physician Diagnosed and Documented Chronic Health Condition

    • How it may impede the child's learning and/or development

    • Sickle cell, cancer, diabetes, cerebral palsy, etc.

  • Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).

  • Immunization (shot) record, and a health assessment within 30 days of enrollment.

Other Important Information

Children should not attend on the 19th, 20th, or the 21st of March.

  • On June 11, 2025, there will be a district-wide screening that will take place at the Warren County Auxiliary Building (formerly Warren County New Tech) from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This screening will provide resources, developmental assessments, and some health screenings for children who will enter school in the 2025-2026 school year.

  • Preschool Placement is made based on program-specific factors, not on a first-come, first-served basis.  

  • Applicants are rank-ordered and offered placement, and when all classrooms in the county have been filled, a rank-order wait list is maintained to fill vacancies as they occur.  

  • Please note the enrollment process can take several weeks to complete.
