Statement from Warren County High School:
Warren County High School sincerely apologizes for our culturally insensitive Spirit Week schedule. Our intention was to provide an opportunity for members of the Native American community to proudly celebrate and showcase their culture. We fully recognize that the way we went about it had the opposite effect. This painful misstep is prompting us to have crucial conversations about appropriate ways to celebrate our many diverse cultures. Thank you for allowing us to use this experience as an opportunity to learn, listen, and grow.
We are currently working on a revised Spirit Week schedule. In the meantime, tomorrow will remain Character Day. Students and staff are invited to dress up as a character from your favorite book, tv show, movie, or real life.
