You're invited to the Community Indian Education Back to School Powwow on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Doe Spun (403 Gibbs Avenue, Hollister, NC 27823). The free powwow will feature Native American student dancers, Native American drumming, giveaways, raffles, and an opportunity to learn about Haliwa-Saponi traditions and culture. Food will be available for purchase, including fry bread! Free $5 meal tickets will be provided for Title VI Indian Ed Students with 506 forms on file and enrolled in Haliwa-Saponi Tribal School, Halifax County, Warren County, and Nash County Public Schools. 506 Forms will be available for parents/guardians to complete for qualifying students if needed. The powwow is sponsored by Title VI Indian Education Programs, Haliwa-Saponi Tribal School, Halifax County Schools, Warren County Schools, Nash County Schools, parents, & community members.
