Spotlight on Mrs.Orlinda Terry, 5th Grade Teacher
“To Teach is to Touch a Life Forever”
For this week’s “Teacher Spotlight,” Mariam Boyd honors veteran teacher, Mrs. Orlinda Terry. Mrs. Terry, who currently teaches 5th Grade Math and Science, is known for her upbeat attitude and contagious positivity. We sat down with Mrs. Terry, who is Mariam Boyd’s Teacher of the Year, to see what she has been up to during the school closure!
1) What have you been working on to ensure students are still learning during our school closure?
I have been working on instructional videos for the students in science and math as well as google meets meetings. I have provided them with activities that they can do online including goformatives and quizizz. I have encouraged students to work on I-ready as a good way of tracking progress. I have also given each student access to my personal phone number so they can call me with questions.
2) What do you miss most about being in school?
What I miss most about being in school is seeing my students and making them laugh.
3) What advice would you give your students during this unprecedented time?
I would tell my students to take one day at a time. Try to stay focused on completing tasks each day and utilize the help that has been provided. I would encourage them to have some outside time so they don't feel stuck in the house.
Mariam Boyd thanks Mrs. Terry for her unwavering dedication and love for her students and school. We love and appreciate you for all that you do! Stay tuned for more Teacher and student spotlights highlighting the awesome things happening at Mariam Boyd!
