Histories And Futures Of Public Education Panel Discussion

May 21, 2022 | 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. | Warren County Memorial Library, 119 South Front Street, Warrenton | This event is free and open to the public

The “Histories and Futures of Public Education” panel brings together a group of distinguished educators and policy analysts to reflect on the history of education in Warren County and, more importantly, to share thoughts about transforming future educational policies and practices. Panelists will address the purpose of education in the 21st century, discuss the importance of including expansive and inclusive histories in school curricula, offer an update on the Leandro Case funding, and address the potentials of education from a parent’s perspective.

This the second discussion in the “Liberating Futures: Erasures, Reckonings, and Transformations” series. These community conversations are a collaboration between The 1921 Project, the Warren County Branch of the NAACP, the Warren County African American Historical Collective, UNC’s Descendants Project, and UNC’s Humanities for the Public Good Initiative.

Today is School Nurse Day! It’d take much more than a single day to adequately celebrate our School Nurses! These professionals have been non-stop throughout the Pandemic... caring for students and staff, contact tracing COVID cases, connecting families to school and community resources, helping manage chronic conditions, training staff, administering medications, creating health guidelines for the district, coordinating with local, state and federal health officials, and the list goes on and on. Thank your school nurse for helping keep our schools open, helping keep our students and staff healthy, and their commitment to staying and working in Warren County to serve our families. #SND2022 #EverydayHeroes #WarrenProud #ThankANurse #SchoolNursesTeachUsAll
