At the direction of Governor Roy Cooper, and pursuant to his Executive Order issued on Saturday, March 14, 2020, all public schools in NC are closed effective immediately for students. Per the order, schools are scheduled to remain closed until March 30, 2020.
Superintendent Update:
1. At 3:30pm today, Governor Roy Cooper held a conference call with all NC Superintendents & BOE chairs.
2. After counsel with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, they are recommending that we remain in school.
3. Their recommendation is that we continue to do what we've been doing, such as frequently washing hands, using hand sanitizer, keeping your hands out of your face, daily & frequently bleaching classrooms and buses.
4. In addition they have stated that closing school doesn't stop the spread of the Coronavirus.
5. We are in communication with the County, Emergency Services and the Health Department. In addition, our County Commissioner is ready to assist us.
6. Once again, frequently washing hands, using hand sanitizer, keeping your hands out of your face, daily & frequently bleaching classrooms and buses greatly assist in not spreading germs.
7. As your school Superintendent, our goal is to ensure that our students and staff are safe and our students are educated.
8. I am requesting our normal process when students are sick. If your child is sick, please keep him/her home to avoid the spread of germs.
9. Thanks for your continued support in this matter. We will keep you updated if we receive new information.
Have a great weekend!
Stop the spread of germs
