Due to circumstances beyond our control, make-up materials for the ACT standard time test did not arrive to the district today. Therefore, those juniors still needing to take this required test will sit for the exam on Tuesday, March 23. This does not impact students who are taking the ACT with accommodations, who will test as scheduled tomorrow. As you know, the state of NC requires all JUNIORS to complete the ACT test. Those who were unable to participate in the original test are to report to campus for the make-up administration next Tuesday, March 9, beginning at 8:00 a.m. Do bring your school-issued Chromebooks and be assured all social distancing protocols will be in place.

As you know, all sophomores are expected to participate in the important pre-ACT test, which gives invaluable information to students and parents regarding college readiness. On this day in 1870, Hiram Revels, born in Fayetteville, NC, becomes the first African-American to serve in the U.S. Congress, appointed to the Senate to represent Mississippi during Reconstruction.
On this day in 1864, Dr. Rebecca Lee Crumpler becomes the first African-American woman to earn a medical degree in the United States.
