As you know, the state of NC requires all JUNIORS to complete the ACT test. Those who were unable to participate in the original test are to report to campus for the make-up administration next Tuesday, March 9, beginning at 8:00 a.m. Do bring your school-issued Chromebooks and be assured all social distancing protocols will be in place.

On Feb. 23, 1965, Constance Baker Motley is voted Manhattan Borough president, the highest elective office held by an African-American woman in a major U.S. city until that time. As noted below, this is but one of the many “firsts” achieved by this remarkable scholar!

On this day in 1979, Frank E. Peterson, Jr., the first African-American aviator in our United States Marine Corps, also becomes its first African-American general. In 1998, he penned his autobiography, Into the Tiger’s Jaw, and in 2010 was appointed to the U. S. Naval Academy’s Board of Visitors.
