Just a reminder to our seniors that CPR training required for NC high school graduation is being conducted virtually during Joust today, Tuesday, January 26; many thanks to Nurse Williams for helping lead this important endeavor.
All students are also reminded that your Block 3 daily Joust class is a year-long course requirement where you receive a grade impacting your GPA.

Another great opportunity offered by Miss Brown for our Knights to learn more about financial aid and scholarship opportunities!

Proud to recognize Darius Hicks, McKenzie Robinson and Ayanna Edwards for academic honors earned during the first semester and completing their Math 3 EOC exam this morning!

Proud of Logan Ross, Luke Ross and Mia Fleming, all availing themselves of great virtual electives this semester offered through the NC School of Science and Math and the NC Virtual Public School, ranging from artificial intelligence to music appreciation!

So proud of our senior class president Kniya Purnell, who was just recognized as one of only 45 $1,000 scholarship winners across the nation in the 4th annual Payback Challenge sponsored by Next Gen Personal Finance! NGPF is a California-based non-profit dedicated to promoting youth financial literacy. Kniya was guided in the scholarship application process by Ms. Waugh-Lewis.

As you know, make-ups for state-mandated EOC tests originally administered last month begin tomorrow in English 2 and continue on Thursday with Math 3 and Friday with biology. Students should arrive on campus no later than 8:00 am and all social distancing protocols will be adhered to. Best wishes to our Knights testing this week!

As you know, school is not in session this Monday as we reflect on the legacy of Dr. King. Our virtual classes resume Tuesday, January 19.

Our new main entrance sign, you’ll notice, has a brand new coat of paint and looks great; many thanks to Mr. Stewart and the operations division, including Mr. Hargrove! Lots of terrific things happening at the Castle, proud Home of the Knights! 🏰

At the mid-point of each school year, we are pleased to recognize members of the Principal’s List and Honor Roll for the fall semester, which we did yesterday, but also those who earned these cardinal distinctions for the third six-week grading period, as noted here. Kudos to the standout Knights!

Please know that student report cards for New Tech’s first semester and third six-week grading period were mailed yesterday via the U.S. Postal Service and should be arriving at your home in short order. Have a good afternoon!

So proud of these students!

As you know, make-up days for state-mandated EOC tests originally rendered in December have been established. Wednesday, Jan. 20, is dedicated to English 2; Thursday, Jan. 21 is slated for Math 3; and Friday, Jan. 22 is devoted to biology. Please be reminded that you need to bring your school-issued Chromebook to access the exam and arrive on campus no later than 8:00 a.m. All social distancing protocols, including masks, will be followed. Best wishes to those completing these important assessments!

We love celebrating student success and goals achieved!

With a winter weather warning in effect and the likelihood of snow in the forecast, please know that our school building will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 8. Should you need to contact the main office or counseling department, please reach out via email; we will also have incoming phone calls forwarded to the appropriate party as those typically reporting to campus work remotely from home. Thank you and be safe!

Attention Parents, Please read this updated letter concerning MOY testing. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's school.

Encouraging words as we begin a new semester today at the Home of the Knights! 😊

Please join us in welcoming Ms. Crystal Boyd as our new counselor! A proud Warren County native, Ms. Boyd brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Home of the Knights; so glad to have her join our New Tech family!

FYI

We want to thank the Lake Gaston Gazette-Observer and Kellen Holtzman for this wonderful coverage of the history of the lake and the legacy of project-based-learning here at New Tech; grateful also to Kathy Dikeman and O’Sail for the grant which helped fund this project!

Wishing Happy New Year 2021 to all our Knights and their families; do hope you have enjoyed our winter break!
As you know, tomorrow, Monday, January 4, is a required teacher workday, and we will resume on-line instruction for our students as we begin our second semester on Tuesday, January 5.
Hope you have a great afternoon!
