Dr. Carol Montague-Davis was sworn in as Interim Superintendent of Warren County Schools early Monday morning. District Court Judge Benjamin Hunter administered Dr. Montague-Davis the oath of office while her sister, Connie Montague, held the Bible. The informal ceremony took place at the Central Services office at 7:15 Monday morning.

Fifteen minutes later, Dr. Montague-Davis was at Warren County High School greeting students and staff as they started their first day of school. As she walked the halls introducing herself, she also saw several familiar faces; former students who are now teachers. Dr. Montague-Davis served as principal of Warren County High for six years from 1998 - 2004.

“What an incredible opportunity to come back and lead my hometown school district,” Dr. Montague-Davis said. “And then to see my former students now standing at the front of the classroom teaching other students; it’s just so special. I spent so much time here as principal that it really does feel like coming back home.”

Members of the Board of Education proudly walked with Dr. Montague-Davis, making introductions like proud parents.

“Dr. Montague-Davis not only brings years of educational leadership experience, she also brings a knowledge of our community, the history of our district, and the needs of our families,” said Board Chair Victoria Lehman. “We’re excited to put her vast experience to use to raise student achievement in Warren County.”

After kicking off the school year at Warren County High School, Dr. Montague-Davis’ next stop was at Warren Early College High School, where she received the same warm reception. Dr. Montague-Davis introduced herself to every class as “Dr. M-D” and told students she also had first-day jitters. But she assured students that as long as we all work together and take care of each other, it’s going to be a great school year.
