Northside Parent Reminder: WeCare COVID-19 weekly Monday testing is expected to begin tomorrow, September 13, 2021. Only those students who have parent consent (yellow form returned) will be tested. According to Superintendent Sutton in his parent letter stated "Your child will be shown how to test themselves, by simply touching the inside of their mouth with a long, skinny cotton swab. The samples will be sent to a lab and you will be notified of the results within 24-48 hours. "

Northside K-8 Bulldog Families: Please ask your child for the very important letter that was sent to you on behalf of Superintendent Sutton. The letter was to inform you of the newly established partnership between Warren County Schools and WeCare COVID-19 weekly testing. Please complete and return the form giving your child permission to be tested weekly. According to Superintendent Sutton "The WeCare testing service is provided at no cost to Warren County Schools. The federal government will cover the cost for anyone who doesn't have insurance. The weekly WeCare testing will help identify students and staff who have COVID-19, but don't know it because they don't have any symptoms. This will allow you to better protect your family and friends, by knowing if your child has COVID-19." This is just one of the ways we're doing everything we can to keep our schools open for students to attend in-person. " Testing will occur starting Monday, September 13, 2021 for those families and staff members who have completed and returned the consent form.

Northside Bulldog Families Reminder: No School Tomorrow Labor Holiday. mClass Testing (K-3rd Grade Reading) and iReady Testing (4th Grade-8th Grade Reading/K-8th Math) will begin this week. EOG Reading scores just released from the North Carolina Department of Instruction and have all been mailed home as of Friday, September 3, 2021. Northside welcomes our two new international teachers Mr. Moguel (Specials Spanish Teacher) and Mrs. Carias (Kindergarten Dual Language Teacher). Special thank you to all our parents who are reminding their children how important it is to keep their mask on while riding the bus and in school. Students do receive outdoor mask breaks and teachers remind students of the importance of social distancing). We would like to thank all of our parents who came up last week to pick up their children's chromebooks. Chromebook pick up hours are now from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. We thank those parents who took advantage last week of the late Chromebook pick up hours which were Monday through Thursday last week. Special thank you to all our staff members for assisting with the Chromebook distribution and to Mrs. Vick. We are extremely proud of our students, parents, social workers, mentors, nurses and staff members for all their efforts in starting out the school year with a high daily attendance rate. Northside Chromebook Distribution All Grades: Tuesday, August 31, 2021 Last name starts with A-M (9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.). Last name starts with N-Z (4:00 p.m. -6:00 p.m.) There will still be a $20.00 chromebook rental fee, and paperwork will need to be completed. The paperwork will be sent home on Monday, August 30, 2021. Parents will need to return with their child's paperwork already completed along with the $20 rental fee. Cash only will be accepted no checks. Thank you in advance for your cooperation as we ensure our children have what they need should there be a change in face to face instruction.

Northside Bulldog Families: First day of school is tomorrow August 23, 2021. School begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:15 p.m. Students are considered late if they arrive after 8:15 a.m. Car Rider Area is now located in the back of the building. Bus Rider Area is now located in the front of the building. Parents nor visitors are allowed in the building due to COVID-19 Variant Safety Protocols in effective. Masking wearing within the building is mandatory for all. Teachers will provide students with mask breaks throughout the day. Assistant Principal Richardson will be handling all bus concerns. Parents please have your child outside waiting for the bus at least 10 to 15 minutes ahead of time. All students must wear a mask prior to boarding the buses. Temperature checks will be conducted. Desk shields, cleaning supplies and other protective personal supplies have been provided for all classrooms to provide another layer of protection for our students. We are excited about our students returning back to school and safety is our number one priority.

Staggered Entry Schedule By Student Last Name: A-J (1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.) K-P ( 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.) Q-Z (4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. ) We will be partner will a local food bank and for every 3 cans of food donated per family, parents will receive a book titled "Reading Magic (Why Reading Aloud to Our Children Will Change Their Lives Forever!) or How to Raise a Reader" while supplies last. Teachers will be supplied with student starter school supplies (notebooks and pencils) which will be distributed while supplies last during Open House. Virtual Academy Open House date has not been set by the District yet. We can't wait to see you!

Good Morning Northside Bulldog Families: It's official we will be continuing optional wearing of school uniforms. School uniforms for the upcoming school year are no longer mandatory for the 2021-2022 school year. Non-uniform dress code guidelines for the 2021-2022 school year are being reviewed and will be posted once approved. The first day of school on the school calendar is August 23, 2021. Currently, there will be in person instruction here at Northside K-8. Parents who completed the virtual learning application will be contacted in early August regarding their child's acceptance status. Northside Middle School student acceptance letters for rising 6th graders went out in June. Special welcome to our new Northside Middle School students. Northside PreK-8 school-wide open house dates will be shared next week. Information on grade level placement for Camp Luau recommended students will take place next week. Parents will be contact directly by Principal Dunbar. Parents please make sure your correct contact information is on file here at the school. Parent Announcement Northside K-8 School Greetings Camp Luau students and families. Camp Luau is off to a fantastic start! Our instructional day is from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Parents, just a reminder that there is no camp on Fridays. Students are engaged in exciting curriculums such as the Triple Play program through the Boys and Girls Club, 4H activities, and the Mars program. Parents, we are still focusing on the core content areas Reading, Math, and Science. The Boys and Girls Club After Camp program is still accepting applications. Parent Reminder: EOG Testing Schedule: May 25, 2021 EOG Reading 4th Grade Through 8th Grade May 26, 2021 EOG Math 4th Grade Through 8th Grade May 27, 2021 EOG Science 5th and 8th Grade June 2, 2021 EOG 3rd Grade Read To Achieve Test Students who have already taken their EOG Reading/Math exams last week can be remote on these days. Since classroom teachers will be testing, work will be posted on the google classroom platform for students working remotely. Any students who have tested already and come to school anyway will need to remain in the cafeteria until their class is finished testing. Thank you so much parents for your on going support.
