Warren County High School invited two authors from Latin America who were part of the Second Hispanic Heritage Book Fair which took place in Henderson, NC. Authors Claudia Zamora (Argentina) and Andrea Armijos (Ecuador), shared their unique experiences with literature and showed their pride and passion for some of their beloved books. In addition, a huge celebration was held during National Poetry Month. The Spanish classes wrote bilingual poems around the question Who am I? They also read poetry from iconic Latin American poets: Pablo Neruda, Chile and Eugenio Montejo,Venezuela. Last but not least, the Spanish I and II classes participated in the Dear Poet initiative by the Academy of American Poets. The students wrote letters to the laureate poet Magdalena Gomez and participated in a metaphor workshop that was both educational and fun!
