This is a post from Brooke Comer Callahan, our Guidance Counselor at Vaughan Elementary. We are still looking for presenters for Career Day on April 4. We would love to have the following careers represented and don't currently have volunteers in these fields. *Hair dresser/cosmetologist *Farmer - (would really like someone to bring a tractor or a piece of farm equipment or bring some animals- goats or lambs or chickens or a horse) *Military- can be active duty or reserves *Veterinarian or dog trainer *Landscaper- (would love you to bring lg lawn mower) *Catering *Dentist/dental hygienist *Realtor *Carpenter/construction/contractor *HVAC *Welder *Automotive repair/mechanic *Photographer *County government or DSS rep *Truck driver that can bring your big ol' truck *Hauling/Dump truck/septic that can bring your truck or equipment *Physical therapist/or Trainer Any others would also be greatly appreciated! The idea is to tell the students what you do on a given day at work. You should also explain necessary skills and education for your job and the benefits of having that particular job. For example, you might have a job that uses a great deal of math or one where you need to be able to communicate and get along with lots of people, or where you need to write well, or that your job means a lot of work outside even when the weather is not great. We have a rotating schedule where you present to a class for about 20 minutes then have five minutes to rotate groups. Presenters with large equipment like fire trucks, etc. will be stationary and groups will rotate to you. Other presenters will have student ambassadors to assist them in moving from class to class. We can't pay you, but we will be eternally indebted to you. Each presenter has a break time to enjoy refreshments and we try to have the best refreshments since we can't pay you. PLEASE! I'm begging you! You can reach out to me, Trina Paynter, and I'll pass your information to Mrs. Callahan, or you can call the school directly at 252-257-6802 and ask for Mrs. Callahan and tell her I was hounding you online. THANKS!!!

There are two options for both calendars: 1️⃣ Option #1 has two shorter spring breaks: 5 days in March and 5-6 days in April. 2️⃣ Option #2 has one long spring break: 10-11 days in April. View the calendars and tell us what you think: https://bit.ly/4hP4zZW

Warren County Schools will have another remote learning day on Friday, January 24, 2025. Twelve-month employees will report to work at 10:00 a.m. After careful consideration and with safety as our top priority, we made this decision based on the latest road assessments from our Transportation, Maintenance, and Administrative teams. Significant snow and ice remain on secondary roads and in shaded areas, making travel unsafe for our buses and young drivers. We hope warmer temperatures and sunshine over the weekend will improve road conditions for a normal school schedule next week. Thank you for your understanding and support as we continue to prioritize the safety of our students, staff, and community. Please stay safe and warm!
