Good Evening Parents, This is Principal Mrs. McMannen, with your weekly updates. I hope you all had a great weekend. Our weekly covid screening will take place tomorrow. I would like to encourage all students to participate in our weekly testing. Our weekly screenings serve as an added safe guard to keeping our students safe. Speaking of safety, I would like to address law enforcement being on campus this past Friday. There was never a threat against the students or staff at Vaughan Elementary. Law enforcement were on campus for an isolated incident. I will always remain transparent with you all and keep you all informed about what’s happening at Vaughan Elementary. Testing will continue this week. Students will take the iReady math on Tuesday, January 11th and mClass will continue until all K-3 students are assessed. Please encourage your child to do his/her best. The tardy bell rings at 8:15 am. If your child is not here by 8:15 you will need to park and come sign your child in. Please don’t send your child to the door unattended because they need to be signed in by an adult. I would also like to remind you all that our student check-out time ends at 2:30 pm. Please send a note in advance if you are planning to check out your child after the 2:30 deadline. This prevents the office staff from having to decline your request. Let’s continue to work together to have a successful school year. Thanks for your continued support of Vaughan Elementary School. Let’s have a great week Eagles!

Good Evening Parents, This is Principal Mrs. McMannen, with your weekly updates. Happy New Year, I hope you all had a great winter break. I’m excited about our students returning to school and beginning the second half of our school year. Student attendance was up before our winter break and I hope that we can continue that trend. However, if your child is sick or displaying any covid symptoms please don’t send them to school. Our weekly Covid screenings will resume tomorrow. Students that have a consent form on file will continue to be screened every Monday. Our middle of the year mCLass and iReady testing will begin this Tuesday, January 4th. These are state and district assessments. mClass measures our students' reading skills. iReady has reading and math assessments. We will use the data from these assessments to guide classroom instruction and intervention blocks. Good Morning, According to Law Enforcement sources, several states have reported seeing warnings across TikTok, the social media platform, about shootings and bombings set to occur in schools nationwide on Friday December 17. Both NCDPI and the NC Department of Public Safety have communicated these are not imminent threats. To reiterate, currently there are no known specific threats to any schools in North Carolina and none specific to our schools in our district. Have a safe winter break!
